******************* MULTI-SINUS EXPERIMENT *******************
*************************************************************************

Reproduction of shapley-victor 78, experiment revealing CONTRAST-GAIN-CONTROL

Parameters of the tested X-cell are defined in:
../../test/retina_files/EXAMPLE_cat_X_cell.xml

../../local/bin/shapleyVictor -T 10 -ret ../../test/retina_files/EXAMPLE_cat_X_cell.xml -tr 0 -nP 10 -outD .

option -T 10 : the grating is taken as having a spatial period of 10 pixels (small image because calculations are quite long). In the original experiment of shapley and victor, grating period is 5 deg. Hence the ratio of 2 pix per degree in file test_X_cell.xml.
option -nP 10 : we ask for a test stimulus that lasts 10 times the period of its slowest sinusoidal component.
option -tr 0 : the cell answer considered is its ganglion input current. If -tr 50, the cell answer considered will be its AVERAGE FIRING RATE over 50 trials. Longer!... For example, try:

../../local/bin/shapleyVictor -T 10 -ret ../../test/retina_files/EXAMPLE_cat_X_cell.xml -tr 50 -nP 10 -outD . -lat 0.005

Observation: our contrast gain control mechanism can reproduce physiological cellular recordings.
