Cerebellar granule cell axon model from the thesis:

Optical Recording of Neuronal Circuit Dynamics

Short description:
The granule axon model was constructed to investigate the influence
of Kv3 potassium channels on axonal dynamics and factors affecting
conduction velocity in the axons of the cerebellar granule cells
that make up the parallel fibers. The model is part of the PhD thesis
Optical Imaging of Neuronal Ciruit Dynamics", where it is described
in detail. The thesis deals with the parallel fiber action potentials
in normal (WT) and potassium channel Kv3.1 & Kv3.3 double knockout
mice. Some of the results were also published in the Journal of
Neuroscience[1].
The model was created using the granule cell model of Gabbiani
et al. [2] as a basis. Newly added were transporters, ion leak
conductances and external potassium accumulation as described
by Nicholson et al. [3]. Calcium dynamics were modelled after
Regehr & Atluri[4].
